Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Latest updates from Old Trafford

THE hottest transfer saga of the summer may have one final twist, despite Erik ten Hag stating that Cristiano Ronaldo would stay at Man Utd.

That’s because the Portugal captain reportedly has a loan offer from Napoli on the table.

A move to Naples would fulfil Ronaldo’s demands for Champions League football, and the Italian club have made their interest very clear, with boss Luciano Spalletti saying he would “talk about coaching him for the rest of his life”.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have announced the £85.4m signing of Antony.

And that means he will be available to take on Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, but will miss the trip to Leicester tonight.

United also believe they can still sign Frenkie de Jong but it is unlikely to happen this window.

The Red Devils are reportedly ready to go back in for the Barcelona star in January.

And United appear likely to keep hold of Aaron Wan-Bissaka rather than bringing in Barcelona’s Sergino Dest as a replacement.

Elsewhere, Martin Dubravka will become David De Gea’s back-up goalkeeper at Old Trafford after making his switch from Newcastle.

Martinez has his Argentinian style, we know it well. I love it and it motivates me to see him play. The way he competes, the way he plays, he gives his heart and soul on the pitch.

A flurry of rumours have surrounded his departure with AC Milan, Napoli and United Arab Emirates all thought to be potential destinations.

However, it seems he will stay as a Manchester United player until January, at least.

The Red Devils have made some big signings down the years, and Antony comes in at number two on the list.

You wonder who’s place might be sacrificed following the arrival of the Brazilian.

    Birmingham agree fee for Chong

Birmingham City have reportedly agreed a deal for United midfielder Tahith Chong.

According to The Athletic, Chong will join the club on a permanent deal, and will play alongside loanee, Hannibal Mejri.

The 22-year-old will hope to build on his time spent at St Andrews on loan last season. But he will have to take a significant pay-cut.

Lisandro Martinez has won Manchester United’s player of the Month award in just his first month at the club.

    Instant impact.

United not ‘giving up’ on De Jong

Frenkie De Jong has been at the centre of a summer of speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.

The Dutchman has made his desires clear that he wants to stay at Barcelona.

However, Beyond the pitch host Phil Brown mentioned that United “haven’t completely given up” on signing the 25-year-old.

As the clock ticks over, a deal seems increasingly unlikely. However, Xavi is open to letting the midfielder go, even offering him a deal to leave the club.

    Antony on Brazilian connection

In an interview earlier, new signing Antony has had his say on his move to Manchester and is pleased to have old friend Casemiro close by:

I’m really happy that we’ve both come from the same place, the Sao Paulo youth-set up and today we’re playing together at this great club. As we’ve said in messages to each other, we hope to write our names in the club’s history.

    Chong on his way out

Manchester United winger Tahith Chong could leave the club today.

After a promising future, Chong’s time at Manchester United hasn’t quite worked out, making just five senior appearances for the club.

Birmingham City look to be first in line to snap him up. The Midlands club are looking to bolster their midfield after already signing United’s Hannibal Mejri on loan.

The move would seem sensible since the Dutchman spent half of last season at the Championship side.

Antony’s first words as a Red Devil

Antony completed his move to Manchester united earlier today and had this to say on Twitter:

His move will no doubt spark debate around the world, given the money paid for him.

    Can he deliver?

    Garner set for Everton move

James Garner is thought to be close to signing for Everton for a fee worth around £15million.

The Manchester United midfielder has struggled to break into the side after a successful loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season.

With the Toffees are out to strengthen their midfield and with Garner not part of Ten Hag’s plans, an offer is expected to be made for the 21-year-old.

United blow as Dest joins Milan

Long-term target Sergino Dest has arrived in Italy ahead of his medical with AC Milan today.

After rejecting Manchester United in favour of staying at Barcelona, the American has made the switch elsewhere.

He previously worked with Ten Hag at Ajax, but has chosen the Italian giants who have the option to buy him after a season long-loan.

Ronaldo move to Napoli still on the cards

Cristiano Ronaldo may still have a route out of Manchester United through Italian club Napoli.

As reported by Italian news outlet Marca, Napoli’s president is keen on having the forward who scored 24 goals last season.

Ronaldo is more likely to go out on loan than a permanent move this late in the window.

United Arab Emirates also remain interested on signing the 37-year-old. However, Ronaldo has made clear that he wants to play Champions League football this year.

Manchester United snub West Ham’s offer for Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United are said to have rejected West Ham’s approaches for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

TalkSport have reported that Erik Ten Hag wants to keep the right-back after failing to secure Sergino Dest.

The Barcelona full-back has arrived in Italy ahead of a medical with AC Milan.

Diogo Dalot looks to be first choice in that position at the moment.

Milan could make late Ronaldo offer

Chelsea are said to be in discussions to sign Rafael Leao from Italian giants AC Milan.

Twitter has theorised that should the deal go ahead, Milan may make a late swoop for Ronaldo.

MEN reported that the move would appeal to the Portugese ace and would be better than any of the exit routes he’s been denied.

Ten Hag said yesterday that he was planning on Ronaldo staying with the club. However, Manchester United’s number 7 has been linked with a move away all summer.

    Could this be it?

    Antony deal completed

Antony is officially a Manchester United player.

The winger has completed his transfer to Old Trafford for a fee of £85.4million, the highest ever fee on deadline day.

The Brazilian has signed a contract until 2027, with the option of an additional year.

The 22-year-old had this to say on his move:

Incredible moment in my career to join one of the most iconic clubs in the world.

Galbraith set for new loan spell

Manchester United are reportedly hoping to loan out Ethan Galbraith this season.

According to Simon Jones of the Mail, Galbraith has had interest from Crewe and Scottish side Hibernian.

The 21-year-old defender would be next to follow Amad Diallo who departed for Sunderland on a season-long loan yesterday.

    Depay to stay at Barca

Contrary to reports on Thursday morning, Memphis Depay will remain at Barcelona this season.

That’s according to Spanish publication Sport, who understand that the Dutchman will now honour the final year of his Barca deal.

It had earlier been reported that the Dutchman was prepared to rip up his contract at the Nou Camp.

That news put Manchester United on red alert, having been heavily linked with a swoop for their former forward.

But that deal now looks to be dead in the water.

Depay scored seven goals in 53 apps during a disappointing spell at Old Trafford between 2015 and 2017.

    Ronaldo to remain at United

There are just over 15 hours of the transfer window remaining before it slams shut, and it now finally looks as though Cristiano Ronaldo will be staying at Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag has once again reiterated his desire to keep hold of the legendary forward.

And the Red Devils have likely been helped by the schedulers, who have ensured they have a Premier League game to prepare for this evening.

United travel to bottom-of-the-table Leicester tonight in search of a third consecutive win, and Ronaldo is expected to be involved.

    United never in for Dest

Manchester United were not in advanced talks to sign Sergino Dest, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Reports had claimed United were in discussions with Barcelona over a potential swap deal for the right-back that would have seen Aaron Wan-Bissaka head to the Nou Camp.

But Romano dismissed the claims, telling GiveMeSport: “There were many rumours on potential swap deals with Barcelona, but I’m told that nothing was advanced [with United] for Sergino Dest.

“My feeling is that the right-back situation could be the same, with Diogo Dalot, of course, and Wan-Bissaka.”

Dest now appears to be closing in on a transfer to AC Milan.

Fans keen to bring back flop

With options becoming more and more limited due to their spending to date, one player United fans are calling for the club to re-sign is Memphis Depay.

Having failed in a previous stint at Old Trafford, many have claimed the player has developed and grown since his departure after blossoming at Lyon before signing for Barcelona.

With the Catalan club having signed Robert Lewandowski this summer, the Dutch forward has fallen well down the pecking order at Camp Nou.

Looking to clear wages off their books, Barca could be open to a loan move also.

Blues look to target United starlet

Birmingham City are in talks with Man Utd in a bid to sign 22-year-old Netherlands midfielder Tahith Chong on a permanent transfer.

Chong spent some of last season on loan to the Championship side, with 20 appearances, scoring one goal during his loan spell.

Having only made five senior appearances for United, the player may be keen to ply his trade elsewhere for regular first-team football.

    ten Hag sends Wan-Bissaka message

The Man Utd manager has spoken about the future of the £45m signing amid the current form of Diogo Dalot.

ten Hag stated that competition is key in all positions and in this instance it is for Wan-Bissaka to dislodge Dalot.
