How To Spot & Identify The Fake Air Jordan 3 Fire Red OG

Jordan Brand is one of the most popular sneaker brands in the world, and the Air Jordan 3 is one of its most iconic models. Unfortunately, the shoes are also one of the most commonly counterfeited sneakers on the market. In this post, we’ll discuss some of the quick ways to spot a fake pair of Air Jordan 3 Fire Red OG. Areas of our focus will include the box. But prior to get into figuring out the tips for legit checking the Fire Red 3, let’s go through our preliminary steps.

Smell the shoes ( only if you’ve already made the purchase)

One of the dead giveaway is the smell/odor of the glue uses to construct the replicas. If the glue smell is really strong to the point of irritating your nostrils, then you’ve probably being dealt a counterfeit

    .Proof of Purchase

Ask for a proof of purchase. Receipt must include details such as provenance, time of purchase, date and any other relevant information. If a seller is reluctant to provide that, I will strongly urge to refrain from following through with the purchase.

    Check The Boxes

As you can see from the picture above, both pairs are supposed to be size 12’s, but the fake pair has shorter length than the real one( see yellow line). Moreover the elephant pattern is of a darker shade on the legitimate pair, see red arrows.

The “Nike Air” logo is of brighter red on the authentic pair, see green square. The box cover is also more extended on the real pair ( see yellow line). The elephant print as already mentioned is of a darker shade on the authentic pair.

There are subtle details that can be spotted by the trained eye. The elephant print overlay is cut lower on the authentic pair ( see yellow line). Next, the cement print is of a lighter shade on the real pair ( see yellow circle). The Nike logo is of a bolder red color on the authentic pair ( see green arrow). The red box shows you that the panels are covered in tumbled leather on the real pair as opposed to synthetic materials on the fakes.

    Toe Area

You can clearly see that the toe is rounded on the legit pair but vertical on the fakes ( see yellow arrow). The yellow line shows you how higher the overlay is on the fake pair. You’ll also notice that the grooves on the print are deeper on the real pair. The red arrow shows you the differences in the angular cuts on the top of the toe.

The fake Air Jordan 3 Fire Red does not feature tumbled leather on the toe area, see red circles.

The stars are more pronounced on the real pair, see red rectangle. Again the cut of the elephant print pattern is higher on the fakes ( see yellow line).

    Panels’ Materials

As you can see from the pictures above, the mid section panels featured tumbled leather materials on the Legit Jordan 3 Fire Red while the fake pair does not.

Black Light Test-Jordan 3 fire Red

As you can see from the picture above, the fake pair has trace marks at the heel and panels , see yellow arrows.

There you have it folks, this post was derived from a video I watched on Youtube courtesy of Jacob Marcelius. This is probably one of the first batch of fakes, this is why the shoe might look horrendous. I’ll update the post as soon as a the fakes get an upgrade. You can check out our other real vs fake comparisons via the Legit Check page.
