Sunny Hostin says women that vote GOP are ‘like roaches voting for Raid.’ Co-host quickly shuts her down.

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin disparaged women who vote for Republicans on Thursday, comparing them to vermin who invite their own exterminations.

    Wait, are you serious?

During a discussion about issues in the 2022 midterm election, Hostin complained that white, suburban women are favoring the GOP despite the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Instead of acknowledging the implications of that fact — that abortion is not as important of an issue to women as the economy — Hostin chose to condemn women who exercise their constitutional rights to vote.

“What’s also surprising to me is the abortion issue. I read a poll just yesterday that white Republican suburban women are now going to vote Republican,” Hostin said. “It’s almost like roaches voting for Raid.”

“They’re voting against their own self-interest. Do they want to live in Gilead?” she mockingly asked, referencing “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

The disparaging charge immediately sparked a tense back-and-forth with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, the panel’s Republican member. She pointed out how Hostin’s remark exemplifies the type of “anti-democratic” rhetoric that Democrats say is dangerous.

“Do we love democracy or not because just saying that— it’s insulting to the voter,” Farah Griffin shot back. “People make decisions about what’s right for their family and the idea that you should have a say for everyone else’s vote.

“You had a different view on abortion not that long ago, and you evolved on it,” Griffin pointed out. “But then why is another woman not allowed to have a different view?”

“I am very surprised that white, Republican, suburban women are voting against their own health care,” Hostin responded. “I have not really recently evolved on the issue. I am Catholic — that is my faith. I believe that abortion is wrong — for me. There’s a separation between government and church, and I do not have the right to tell someone else. However, they are voting against their own self-interest.”

    What is the background?

As Election Day looms closer, poll after poll indicates that Republicans will win in a landslide, almost certainly taking control of the House and possibly the Senate, while winning in state elections nationwide.

The poll that Hostin referred to, a Wall Street Journal survey published on Tuesday, shows that white, suburban women have moved significantly toward Republicans in the last three months.
