She looked beautiful in a full face of makeup and large hoop earrings with a neon sign behind her that read ‘All you need is love.’

Pompeo wrapped up the caption as she wrote: ‘This isn’t your first time on the rollercoaster… you know the show must go on and I’ll definitely be back to visit. With a lot of love and immense gratitude XoE.’

Grey’s departure was set up in last week’s episode when the doctor decided to move to Boston.

She announced her decision in an email to hospital staff, which upset Nick (Scott Speedman) because she made the move without consulting him.

The episode also revealed Meredith’s house went up in flames, with the only salvaged item being the post-it with Meredith and Derek’s vows.

The first half of the season introduced a new group of interns, in lieu of Meredith’s departure, who have all been received well by fans.

Pompeo signed on to star and executive produce Hulu’s Orphan project, based on a true story, in August.

The series will follow a midwestern couple who adopt a young girl with dwarfism.

The family rents an apartment for their daughter and move to Canada, though they’re later charged with abandoning the child, after suspecting she’s actually an adult.
